How to uninstall 1Password (2024)

To uninstall 1Password for Mac

  1. Click the 1Password icon in your menu bar and choose Quit.

    In 1Password 7, choose Quit 1Password Completely.

  2. In Finder, drag 1Password from the Applications folder to the Trash.

To remove your 1Password data

Important

These steps will remove all your local 1Password data from your Mac, including backups.

Make sure you can access all your 1Password data on another device or on 1Password.com before you follow these steps.

  1. In Finder, choose Go > Go to Folder, then enter the following path and press Return:

     ~/Library/Application Support/
  2. Drag any folders with 1Password in the name to the Trash.
    Example: 1Password 4

  3. Choose Go > Go to Folder, then enter the following path and press Return:

     ~/Library/Preferences/
  4. Drag any files with com.agilebits or com.1password in the name to the Trash.
    Example: com.agilebits.onepassword4.plist

  5. Choose Go > Go to Folder, then enter the following path and press Return:

     ~/Library/Containers/
  6. Drag any folders with com.agilebits or 1Password in the name to the Trash.
    Example: 2BUA8C4S2C.com.agilebits.onepassword-osx-helper

    If you use 1Password for Safari, do not delete any folders with 1Password for Safari or com.1password.safari in the name.

  7. Choose Go > Go to Folder, then enter the following path and press Return:

     ~/Library/Group Containers/

    If you see “The folder can’t be found”, click Cancel and skip the next step.

  8. Drag the 2BUA8C4S2C.com.agilebits or 2BUA8C4S2C.com.1password folders to the Trash.

  9. Empty the Trash and restart your Mac.

Important

Deleting 1Password will remove all your local 1Password data from your iOS device.

Make sure you can access all your 1Password data on another device or on 1Password.com before you delete the 1Password app.

To uninstall 1Password for Windows

  1. Open the Start menu.
  2. Click(Windows Settings) > Apps > Installed apps.

    If you're using Windows 10, click (Windows Settings) > Apps.

  3. Click 1Password, then click Uninstall.

If you're using Windows 7 or 8.1, open the Start menu and choose Control Panel. Click Uninstall a program. Click 1Password, then click Uninstall.

To remove your 1Password data

Make sure you can access all your 1Password data on another device or on 1Password.com before you follow these steps.

  1. Open the Start menu, type %LOCALAPPDATA%, and choose Open.
  2. Find the folder named 1Password and move it to the Recycle Bin.

Deleting 1Password will remove all your local 1Password data from your Android device.

Make sure you can access all your 1Password data on another device or on 1Password.com before you delete the 1Password app.

  1. Open your device’s Settings app.
  2. Select Apps or Application manager.
  3. Tap 1Password, then tap Uninstall.

Other distributions (.tar.gz)

To remove 1Password for Linux:

sudo /opt/1Password/after-remove.shsudo rm -R /opt/1Password

To remove your 1Password data:

rm -R ~/.config/1Password

Snap Store

By default, when you remove a snap, snapd 2.39 and later saves internal user, system, and configuration data as a snapshot for 31 days.

To remove 1Password for Linux and save a snapshot:

sudo snap remove 1password

To remove 1Password for Linux without saving a snapshot:

sudo snap remove 1password --purge

Whether or not you save a snapshot, your 1Password data is stored separately. To remove your 1Password data:

rm -R ~/.config/1Password

Flatpak

To remove 1Password for Linux:

flatpak uninstall com.onepassword.OnePassword

To remove 1Password for Linux and your 1Password data:

flatpak uninstall --delete-data com.onepassword.OnePassword
